I took my cat to the vet yesterday because her behavior has rapidly changed. The news was terrible. She is dying. One of her kidneys is enlarged and both are failing. Her liver is also beginning to fail. I got a little emotional in the office. She is a good little girl and been there with me for 17 years.
I am going to make the most of the time we have left. I will miss her so much when that day comes.

Would it not be selfish to make her stay even if she is suffering. I think it’s because she knows you love her that she keeps going. All you can do is appreciate the time you have left. Comfort her.

Yes, I have battled with that. It would be selfish to have her suffer and not be humane. But at the same time, I didn’t want to make that call and feel guilty like it was too early, as though I was turning my back on her.
She has really regressed in the last two days so I am going to have it done Saturday.

Katie, I unfortunately had to put her to sleep this morning. It was very painful but the time was right. I miss her already.
